Provincial Offences - court
- Highway Traffic Act charges such as speeding or traffic violations; Charter Rights & Issues (Police lawful arrest, detention, and reading you your right to counsel in a timely manner)
- Municipal by-law charges relating to excessive noise, animal control, garbage disposal; and
- Charges under provincial legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Dog Owners’ Liability Act and Trespass to Property Act.
Provincial offence cases are for the province you live in specifically and the provincial courts there try and also prosecute most of these cases
Many relatively minor offences are prosecuted under Part I or Part II of the key piece of legislation, the Provincial Offences Act. The offence can be settled out of court by paying the amount on the ticket

- Short-form wordings for offences to be used on the offence notice (O. 1990, Reg. 950 for Part I offencesand R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 949 for parking tickets);
- Costs (R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 945); and
- Victim fine surcharges (O. Reg. 161/00).
