Small Claims - Court Matters

We serve low-income clients because litigation does not have to be costly.

Small Claims

Who said you have to go to court?

You can settle a suit with the other party without setting foot in court. If that doesn’t work, you can start the claim in court and do mediation. If that fails, then you let the judge decide in court.

The first step is to get a consultation. You talk, we listen, explain and tell you your options.

Most people are not able or are not equipped to advocate for their own cause or know how to initiate litigation.  That becomes more real If they have fear or are just reluctant because of economic barriers because they don’t understand the legal process or illiteracy.  Instead, they just don’t pursue the claim and they don’t assert their legal rights.

That is especially so for newcomers.

Small Claims Include:

  • claims up to $35,000.00
  • breach of contract
  • personal injury
  • debt collections
  • property damage

Okay, now you have access to the law. But you’re faced with complicated legal jargon.

Procedures, Shall, May, Must, Law, Regulations, Guidelines, Time, Service, Affidavit

But what do they all mean?

Before you sue, know whether that person or business is judgment proof, does that person have the means to pay?

ALWAYS read the small prints when making deals or an investment.

If it is a verbal contract or deal, the judge will hear parole evidence as well, so don’t despair.
